A thumping 5-0 win to progress through to the next round of the mini-tournament. The winner books a place in the Champions League third round. Ana Dias broke the deadlock on 19. A brace from Bonsegundo (39 and 45+2) gave Sporting a 3-0 lead at half time in stifling conditions. Hernandez-Gray made it 4-0 on 77 and Telma compounded the Ukrainians misery making it 5 on 89 minutes. Substitues - Bonsegundo, Neto, Bravo and Filipa for Encarnação, Pérez, Hernandez Gray and Marau.
Sporting will face SKN St. Pölten of Austria next after they defeated BSC Young Boys of Switzerland 4-3. They went 3-0 up in the first 38 minutes through goals from Vago, Latino and Aagaard. The Swiss pulled it back to 3-2 before Rukavina added a fourth on 62. A goal 6 minutes from time too little to late for the Swiss. The game will take place this Saturday at 1700 hours.

An incredibly difficult opening 45 for the lionesses. Apart from a 4 of 5 minute spell they were never really about to get any type of grip on the game. Too many mistakes on their part, that they go in with the score 0-0 is testimony more to the finishing ability of the home side than anything positive of note from Sporting.

You have to wonder why when looking at the performance of Telma Encarnação when coming on as a substitute she wasn't in the starting XI because she transformed Sporting and should have put the game to bed with a raft or good chances. I think it's clear for anyone watching on that her quality stands head and shoulders above her colleagues and most of the home side in turn. Any chance of success domestically or on the European stage is going to rest on her young shoulders over the course of the season. Play her whilst you can because someone is going to dangle a fishing rod for her to bite on and you're going to be powerless to stop her from moving. You have to imagine her future lies in the WSL. Can she prove the difference maker in extra time? We're about to find out.

Well fair play to Sporting for digging themselves out of a hole and finding the equaliser with a finish of genuine quality for Telma. Sometimes fortune smiles on you and sometimes it goes against you in the cruelest of manners seconds later as we saw with the initial strike before the opening goal hit the post and then fall direct to a blue shirt with the goal wide open. Sporting finished the better side, they were the one looking for the winner but it wasn't to be. In truth they should have finished the game in the second half of the 90. The lionesses looked woefully unprepared for penalties in Europe last season when they got knocked out of the Europa League.

Confirmation that the lionesses are set to meet London City Lionesses on Sunday August 16th, 2026 at the Municipal Stadium of Lagos for a behind closed doors pre-season friendly. Spanish youngster Daniela Arques made the move between clubs during the summer.

A 2-0 win over CA Ouriense with both goals coming from Correia and a 4-1 win over Clube de Albergaria. Encarnação continuing her fine run of form in front of goal with a hat-trick, Ramírez with the other goal.

The lionesses continued their preparation for the new season with a friendly against Real in Palmela behind closed doors. A brace from Telma Encarnação and a goal from Flor Bonsegundo enough time secure a 3-0 win.
