After a break of nearly a month the lions were back in action Saturday evening looking to avenge their 2-1 defeat last time out at the hands of Lusitânia de Lourosa FC. Interesting to see the cross over with the first team very present. Felicíssimo and Nel were both part of the matchday squad last night. Zekri named amongst the substitutes here tonight for the B team as he awaits his first start since his summer move. We've seen Simões playing for Tiago Fernandes side earlier this season as he made his way back from injury. Fluidity both ways - it's good to see.

The young lions are the first to debut the new traditional October pink kit for Breast Cancer. 5 minutes gone when Rafael Nel was left unmarked inside the box. Vizela keeper Gomis managed to spread himself wide and spare his defenders blushes as he blocked the youngsters effort from 8 yards. 28' Couto fired the lions into the lead from 13 yards with a wonderfully taken first time strike into the bottom right hand corner. I become all the more disturbed that his contract expires next summer with every game that passes. 32' Nel must have had a feeling of Déjà vu as Gomis once more spread himself wide to stop a low effort from 17 yards. Maybe a touch of irony therefore when Cardoso burst clear on the left and fired through the legs of Gomis from 10 yards out just to the left of the six yard box marker into the bottom right hand corner. Superbly taken goal to double the lions lead on 45'. Quite why the Vizela defence were keeping a highline of around 40 yards when you've got players like Cardoso powered by rocket fuel is anyone's guess.
65' Silva tips a venomous strike from 25 yards past the far post from Mörschel. Great effort and great save to match. 76' Gomis with a rush of blood to the head fluffed his lines inside the area and ended up poking the ball to a Sporting player. Quick pass to Blopa who was wide open on the right and he inexplicably fired wide of the right hand post from 8 yards on the far side of the box. Thankfully for the youngster the miss didn't effect the result of the game.
