Matchday 6
Starting XI
Coster, Ramírez, Cherry, Eaton-Collins, Filipa, Bravo, Cameirão, Grant, Armengol, Dias and Encarnação
Substitutes
Woźniak, Cancelinha, Marau, Martins, Pérez, Santiago, Correia, Besugo and Bonsegundo
The lionesses looking to pick themselves up after their capitulation in the Dérbi de Lisboa last time out.
3’ The lionesses should have been a goal behind when Kelly Bullock found Kiki wide open in the centre of the Sporting area unmarked but she slipped at the crucial moment and knocked the ball well wide of the right hand post from 11 yards. 11’ Encarnação should have done much better with a cross from the right but sliced her effort with the outside of her left boot well wide of the left post. 28’ Cameirão floated a free kick to the back post where it was met by captain Eaton-Collins who headed back across goal to find Dias who had the simple job of tapping home from 3 yards to make it 1-0. That's now goals in back to back games for Dias. 36’ Ramírez had her legs swiped away by Sousa inside the area and a penalty was awarded. 37’ Encarnação stepped up to comfortably place the ball past Erin Seppi into the bottom left hand corner for 2-0.
64' Double substitution with Grant and Dias for Martins and Besugo. 66’ Valadares were given a lifeline with a penalty award following a handball from Cherry. She had initially slid in on Gestera missing both player and ball before stopping an attempted cross with her arm in the next play. 68’ Matilde Nave stepped up to the spot and went left with her penalty, Coster got a hand on her effort to tip it onto the left hand post. Agonisingly for the lionesses keeper the ball bounced back and rolled across her six yard box where Kiki was first to react and slam the ball home from 3 yards. 76' Double substitution with Cherry and Armengol for Cancelhina and Bonsegundo. 77’ Seppi had a rush of blood to the head as she passed the ball to Encarnação trying to play out from the back. With all 3 defenders at least 15 yards from the forward and now one on one with the keeper you’d have banked on the young forward scoring but her effort from 20 yards slapped down by Seppi and another chance went begging. 81’ Encarnação held off the attention of Ana Cruz to run into the Valadares area but shanked her final effort well wide of the right hand post from 12 yards. 83' One final change with Bravo for Pérez. 90+1’ Encarnação burst down the right of the area to run clear of Kiki but found her final angle too narrow and could only fire into the side netting.
