1.24 The Rise and Fall of Bruno de Carvalho: It was annoying
Let's quickly recap our last bonus post which was in fairness a little bit of fun as we looked at some more of the famous messgaes that Bruno de Carvalho sent in his time as the club president of Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Today however we're going to be looking at something more serious, just what his reaction was to the attacks after they happened.
In previous posts I've alluded to the fact that other in his
testimony to the courts on the final day of the sessions heard, the former
Sporting CP club president Bruno de Carvalho never really denounced what had
happened at Alcochete on May the 15th, 2018.
Mustafá speaking on behalf of the Juve Leo was clearly taking things very seriously in respect of the claques association with the attacks confirming that the group would: "initiate an internal investigation to determine the involvement of any member of this association" Sanctions would then be taken depending on what was discovered.
So what was de Carvalho's reaction? Hours after the attack he appeared on Sporting TV to address the clubs fans. He spoke of a: "sad day in Portuguese football.”
OK so maybe not what I've had gone for exactly but that's just one line.
"We've been talking a lot about the issue of violence, about the hooligan groups. People are turning this into a sporting matter, but it's a police matter.”
OK well still time to say something poignant. Oh no he's actually attacking those who say he's responsible for the attacks.
"My 'modus operandi' is not to see players and staff being assaulted. This is the family I chose. What interest would Sporting have in a situation like this?”
Your ‘modus operandi’ is stuck on constantly proving what a bellend you are.
OK Bruno say some words of comfort for your players and especially their families who must have been worried sick as news broke out on national TV. Kids crying not knowing if their daddies were hurt or going to come home… Bruno de Carvalho revealed himself to be "sad and worn out," "it was annoying to see the players' families calling, worried.”
I wish you could have seen my reaction to readinf that doosie. Woi! So as per usual playing the victim card. Yes Bruno, like the McFly song - It's all about you. I mean you could have said… well just about anything other than that. You could have told the world what you had for dinner and come off less like an insensitive prick. ‘It’s obviously a black day in the history of Sporting. I carry a sadness in my heart. But I make this promise to you all watching, to the players and their families, I will do everything in my power to help the authorities identify the suspects and ensure nothing like this ever happens again. I will not stop in my quest to put these wrongs right.’ You know, something like that maybe? Nope, we're going on live TV and telling the families who've been scared out of their minds waiting for updates that their loved ones are safe that "It was annoying” that they'd chosen to ring him to allay and concerns and fears that they might have had. Go on Bruno give it one last shot.
"We have to get used to the fact that crime is part of everyday life.”
No try again.
"This management has never suffered such a serious and relentless attack. It went from the suspension of the coach, which didn't actually happen, to the pseudo-corruption case in handball, which doesn't exist."
Jesus cut the feed to the studio. Go to an advert break.
He says the members have two options: "Either they trust this management or they don't trust it and are manipulated by the media. We are a target to be taken down.”
Look does he say anything that doesn't make him look like a man who has stood in dog shit and is now busy treading it into the carpet?
Well he attacks both the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, João Paulo Rebelo, and also the Portuguese Youth Institute (IPDJ).
That went well don't you think? Clicks the standby button on the remote and stares at the TV in silence
It's OK though because six months later Fernando Correia, the journalist who was Bruno de Carvalho's spokesperson, wins the Portuguese Understatement of the year award for 2018. In the esteemed words of Bruno de Carvalho himself “You can stick the cup up your arse!” Finally someone connected with Sporting had brought home a real prestigious prize to be proud of. His winning entry "His reaction after the attack wasn't the most appropriate.”
Well no shit Sherlock. Thank you very fucking much for those words of wisdom son. Your mother must be very proud.
Speaking to TVI24 he stated after news of de Carvalho's arrest: "This detention represents a huge loss for the club, and that's what Sporting fans should analyse. I also feel that all of this could have been avoided if Bruno de Carvalho had been heard at the time the events occurred. His reaction at that time may not have been the most correct, saying it was a nuisance for the families, in a somewhat dismissive tone. He then tried to be heard by the authorities, no longer being the president of Sporting, and finally he is detained for questioning almost at game time, which is a somewhat strange situation.”
Well I suppose news flash in that Bruno de Carvalho had a spokesperson. I imagine his role was a nice easy one given you couldn't shut the man up so why he needed a spokesperson is anyone's guess. Only it isn't really is it? Because actually had he employed him in his role you can safely assume that Fernando Correia would have ensured that his boss and Sporting CP, whilst not coming out smelling of roses at least didn't leave a terrible stink behind.
He added: "I haven't spoken to him in a long time, but he certainly won't be happy about being detained. But it seems he'll be willing to tell the whole truth and everything he knows.”
The whole truth and nothing but the truth so help him God? The poor man seems to either be deluded or moreover suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
So two sentences most associated with Bruno de Carvalho, one that was misconstrued and used against him in a court of law, the infamous “do what you want.” Now we have “it was annoying,” which personally I don't think can be misconstrued in any way. I said it at the end of the post for Rui Patrício's testimony, the bloke is a complete and utter narcissist.
